Embracing Minimalism at Home

Our outer environment often reflects our inner state. A cluttered home can lead to a cluttered mind. But true minimalism isn't just about white walls and having less stuff; it's about making room for what matters most.
The Spiritual Discipline of Less
We are told that more is better. More clothes, more gadgets, more options. But often, abundance leads to anxiety. Every item you own takes up a little bit of your mental energy to maintain, clean, or organize.
By simplifying our surroundings, we can create a sanctuary of peace. When we strip away the excess, we are left with the essentials—the things that truly bring us joy or utility.
How to Start
Start small. Don't try to declutter your entire house in a day. Pick one drawer. One shelf. As you hold each item, ask yourself: Does this serve a purpose? Does it bring me joy?
- The 90/90 Rule: Have you used it in the last 90 days? will you use it in the next 90? If not, let it go.
- Sentimental Items: Take a photo of the item to keep the memory, then release the physical object if it's just taking up space.
Letting go of physical objects can be an emotional process, but it is also a freeing one. You are creating space for life to happen.
